President of Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute (Lodz, Poland)

Maciej Banach, MD, PhD, FAHA, FNLA, FESC, is President of Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute. He is also Professor of Cardiology and the Head of the Department of Hypertension at the Medical University of Lodz, Poland.

He is member of the Executive Committee of European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) working as an Advisor in Matters related to European Union Relations/Contacts, and the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS) Regional Federation Executive Committee Member for Europe.

Prof Maciej Banach is also Visiting Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Victor Babes in Timisoara, Romania, where he is also a doctor honoris causa.

Prof Maciej Banach earned his medical degree at the Medical University in Lodz, Poland. He completed his postgraduate training in the Ministry of the Interior Hospital, located in Warsaw and Lodz, Poland.

Prof Maciej Banach is a PCSK9 expert. His main area of scientific interest concerns aspects of hypertension (risk stratification, new biomarkers, pharmacotherapy/combined therapy, prevention, complications), lipid disorders (risk stratification, new biomarkers, diagnosis, rare diseases),  dyslipidemia therapy (statins, new drugs, combined treatment), and new drugs in cardiovascular therapy. He is Founder of Lipid and Blood Pressure Meta-analysis Collaboration (LBPMC) Group and President of Polish Lipid Association (PoLA).
